Julie G. Wilkes, LCSW-S is a Master’s Level clinician, supervisor and psychotherapist practicing in the Houston area for almost twenty years. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master's in Clinical Social Work from the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. She has held a Supervisor's designation for emerging social workers since 2018. Her theoretical framework is eclectic with an emphasis on the psychodynamic approach. She utilizes Internal Family Systems therapy, archetypal psychology, conscious parenting and existential theoretical frameworks as well.
Her work with couples is extensive and she is currently developing her own parent-child relational model that will encourage a parent-led/child-honored philosophy. She has done numerous trainings on the effect of stress on the body and often incorporates body and breath work with her clients. Walking and movement sessions are available in addition to traditional talk therapy. Additional areas of expertise include addiction, eating disorders, complex family dynamics and grief. At the heart of her work is a desire to help all of her clients integrate their unique life experiences into an authentic narrative for a rooted sense of self. Julie enjoys spending time in her garden with her two sons and making music with her husband Marc. She is a cat lady, a yogi, and she loves the Grateful Dead.

Our Practice
Sunbeam was born of a deep desire to help individuals reconsider and reconcile their relationships for a deeper sense of fulfillment and vitality in daily life. Our relationships with others, with ourselves, with substances, and behaviors, and how we relate to formative experiences in our lives can contribute tremendously, or detract greatly from the ability to feel capable of managing our emotions. When we are blocked by parts of our stories that resist integration we can't access true peace or self-leadership. At Sunbeam Psychotherapy and Wellness a treatment plan entirely unique to each individual, couple, and/or family is developed to address the emotional, relational, practical, and spiritual needs of the client. Julie Wilkes, LCSW, Owner and Clinical Director, does not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. A belief in the vast spectrum of individual essence and experience is one of the core values of the practice. Other core values include: authenticity, an integrated sense of self, freedom, meaning, truth, and loving-kindness.
